Guiding Performance Reasons for poor Dec guiding : Black/Purple points () - None Red point (2) - Guide star on wrong side of zero line (close to Meridian). Unexplained 3" jump in Dec position (again on wrong side of zero line and couldn't be immediately corrected. Developing cloud causing a rogue single point spike in Dec, which PHD2 over-reacted  to and pushed the guide star even further away from zero line (error 7-8" at end of frame 2). Orange points (7, 16) - Non effective Dec Guiding (South)

• Problem with PHD2 Client Listener in AstroMain "No. of incomplete PHD2 stream reads has exceeded 5" (18:42).   Yellow alert message was useful in alerting issue, which was fixed by restarting AstroMain and PHD2 to preempt guiding data issues later in session.

• Unable to take Foc2 Focus Profiles "SharpCap doesn't appear to be connected".  Looking at report message shows that following the AstroMain restart at 18:45 there was an issue with making a successful ShCap connection at 18:47.

  It is supposed that there was probably some issue with closing ShCap server connection when AstroMain program was closed at 18:44 (Unexpected charaters appear in report file and there were unexpected messages from Power Box Switch and Foc2 shutdown processes).  Issue was resolved by restarting SharpCap/ShCap and restarting the ShCap client service in AstroMain.

• Dome slew to UGC 5528 (Az 209.7 to Az 187.6 deg) took an unexpectedly long time, 221s for a 22 deg slew, ie a rate of only 0.10 deg/s.  Other slews were ok.  This is known occassional issue with dome. Continue to monitor the positions were this problem tends to occur.

• Occasional rogue guide frames which show a 3-5" deviation in Dec position are being responded and can lead to guide start bing pushed 3-5" onto the wrong side of the zero line where unidirectional Dec guiding can't restore the telescope positon. Dec hysterisis setting increased from 10% to 35% at 22:24 in an attempt to moderate this behaviour.

• Repeated attempts to performed Near Zenith Focusing including Foc1 profile.  There were several attempts to re-perform Near Zenith Focusing after each session resumption after weather related suspensions.   This was due to an issue with ShCap server connection which prevented Foc2 from being successful performed until the problem was noticed and fixed. During each reattempt at Near Focus Focusing, a Foc1 profile was performed even though this had already been successfully performed.  This should be skipped if the last successful Foc1 focus was within say the last 30 minutes. Two of the attempts (20:09 and 20:12) occurred directly after each other.

• Repeated attempts to performed Near Zenith Focusing interferred with oid references, TargetInfo charts and post session JPG Picture page.  There were several attempts to re-perform Near Zenith Focusing after each session resumption after weather related suspensions.   This was due to issue with ShCap server connection which prevented Foc2 from being successful until noticed and fixed. Each reattempt at Near Focus Focusing interferred with oid referencing/Target Info, such that TargetInfo Chart 11 (oid 11.Focus_Field_5) was labelled Focus Field 5 recorded steps associated with Near Zenith Focusing, but after finishing, instead of closing the TargetInfo chart the chart was left open and that recorded steps associated with the target AT2021kkh.   AT2021kkh started initially at 20:06 during session suspension. After session resumption  Near Zenith Focus Field 5 started at 20:09 (chart10.oid10.Focus_Field_5) and again at 20:12 (chart11.oid11.Focus_Field_5) , before AT2021khh was restarted at 20:15.  The next target (chart 12.oid12.IC_421) started at during session suspension.  JPG pictures from AT2021khh used the oid11 reference ok, but these are shown under a target section titled "Focus Field 5".  A similar issue affected session S1007, 2022-02-06 when the JPG Pictures from 1st target were mixed up with Focus Field pictures after job queue started under Suspended State conditions. Both issues finally fixed in AstroMain 3.51.5 (2022-05-09) by using a flag RestartTarget that can trigger a call for the target to be restarted after performing an 'intra-target' NearZenithFocusing operation.

• Discrepency noticed between rain locations shown on DarkSky.Net rain radar map and those shown on OpenWeather maps. Passage of rain 'showers' is displaced by some 30 km between the two maps even after adjusting for respective maps times.  Course taken by a line of showers is different on the two maps. It is unclear which map is incorrect and whether minutely data from either API source is affected or not.  In the map which is wrong it is unclear if problem is an error in the radar map data or an error in the underlying geographic map/coastline position. DarkSky.Net taken over by Apple sometime ago, is now longer supported or officially still running, but it it is still available and used as primary radar information as minutely data includes a rain probability which the openweather api doesn't.  It is possible that the OpenWeather map is latest data, whilst the DarkSky Net is a forecast for 10-15 mins ahead of last data?. Item placed on hold after review 2022-05-16.  Closed 2023-01-01 as DarkSky.Net Rain Radar pictures became no longer available at end 2022.

Small Defects

• Final housekeeping report for PHD2 Data Stream showed "Incomplete Reads  0" when there were at least 5 in the session.  There were at least 5 incomplete data stream reads at 18:16 before the session was restarted at 18:45 the final house keeping reported should have still counted and reported the original incomplete reads. SessionData.dat file show that  PHD2.nIncompleteReadsTotal = 7 &  PHD2.LastIncompleteReadTime =  18:42:13.  Bug found in code and fixed (housekeeping was reporting  PHD2.nIncompleteReads instead of  PHD2.nIncompleteReadsTotal)

  It is hypothesised that there were two 'Stop Services' happening at the same time.  One initiated by 'Stop All Services' button routine and a second that was automatically initated when Close button was clicked before the first stop services process had finished.  Code should be modified to stop this from happening.  Fixed 2022-02-27

• Session Status showing as "Session suspended (Due to non-defined reason (25) )" (18:16).   Although conditons were reported good at the time (Stars 44, Clarity 42.8, Rain 0, Wind 14.5 mph, T 1.9°C), Synposis data showed a red flag for Rain Threat (with 97% and later on still 60% risk of 1-2mm/hr rain rate) in the next 15 mins.  This should be enough information to track down the bug and ensure that an appropriate message is shown.  Later on the session status showed as "Session suspended (Due to threat of Rain)" so it's not a consistent error.   It is proposed to keep a 'last defined reason for session suspension' (LastDefinedSuspensionReason as Integer & LastDefinedSuspensionReasonTime as Date) that isn't overriden with a '0' value so that it can be used later on in place of any non-defined reason.  To help diagnosis the log file should record the replacement and the time that the last defined reason was recorded.

• Wind Threshold for observatory operations is too restrictive and should be raised.  Observatory operations can't start on may suspend when wind speed is 15-18 mph.  This isn't a speed that threatens the observatory but is at a level where wind would historically tend to shake the scope and cause poor images. However after scheduling improvements that prevents selection of target that would require the roof aperature to be pointing into the wind and instead selecting targets where telescope is protected by the observatory roof the limit should be raised. Wind Speed Hurdle for 'CanOpen' raised from 15.0 to 20.0 mph, Hurdle for MustClose raised from 20.0 to 24.0 (AstroMain), Hurdle for CriticalWind raised from 20.0 to 24.0 mph, and threshold for Warning raised from 10.0 to 14.0 mph (AstroAllSky). No change required to AstroGuard as this currently works off Synopsis.CriticalWind flag from AstroAllSky.

• Need an improved (dedicated) back door function to restart the AstroShCap/SharpCap service. Whilst ShCap service can be partially restarted from within AstroMain and improved routine is needed with a clear button / smart button routine from 'More/Bakdoor' tab.  New button (btnRestartShCapService) and button routine (RestartShCapService) added 2022-02-07, modelled on RestartPHD2Service.
