Session Aims & Highlights (2023-10-01)

Main aims

1. Targets.  Acquire images of a selection of variable stars, nearby stars, comets & deep sky targets as allowed by sky conditions
2. AstroMain. Check new AstroMain version (3.62.14) for recent fixes and improvements.

Highlights

• Targets. 8/27 planned targets were completed, with 1 other target partially completed.  Images from 2 targets were later rejected.
• AstroMain. No issues with new AstroMain version (3.62.14)
   Dome Slews. No dome slews were affected by any significant hold-up  (Hold Up Stats: 0/11 slews affected, 0%, 0.4 minutes total hold-up time).

• Session Files from AllSky/Weather Computer failed to download on first attempt (post-session). First attempt to download S1152 (2023-10-01) files from the AllSky/Weather Computer using AstroMove failed at 2023-10-03 08:51. Logs show that for each file there was a "Fail - Source File not found" message. Folders/files checked ok via Windows Explorer a few moments later and were accessible. Second attempt to copy files at 2023-10-03 09:06 was successful.  It is hypothesized that the AllSky/Weather Computer was simply unavailable / not accessible at the time of the first attempt. Issue closed after review 2023-10-04.

• AllSky Camera fisheye pictures are showing a dark piece of dirt or more likely a bird dropping) at c. Az 45°, Alt 60°.  Hemisphere to be cleared/cleaned of the offending objects. Rain during the next 2 days gradually cleared the dark mark. A small trace was still left when the AllSky Camera's Hemisphere was checked on 2023-10-06 which was cleaned.
