Session Aims & Highlights (2023-09-21)

Main aims

1. Targets.  Acquire images of a selection of variable stars, nearby stars, comets & deep sky targets as allowed by sky conditions (especially wind)

Highlights

• Targets. 15/23 planned target were completed, with 3 other targets partially completed.  In addition one ToO target  (P/2023 M4 (ATLAS) ) was also completed. Other planned targets failed due to cloud/session suspension.  Images from 1 target (DX Cnc) were later rejected due to cloud/poor sky transparency.
•  Dome Slews. Three dome slews were affected by significant hold-ups of up to 103s.
  (Hold Up Stats: 3/21 slews affected, 14%, 4.5 minutes total hold-up time).

• ToO List from the session included a ToO Target from the previous session. The Targets of Opportunity list from the S1148 session  (which is posted on the Current Session web page (using Session.TargetsOfOpportunity.dat) and is reported in theTargets of Opportunity section of the session's Report file) included a ToO Target (NGC 7385) that was successfully completed during the previous S1147 session.  The AstroMain program remained running between S1147 and S1148 session and the evidently ToO arrays from which the list is reported still included the prior ToO.  This is thought to have occurred before and had been fixed, but clearly the issue persists.  ToO arrays need to be cleared at the start of a new session.  Fixed in AstroMain 3.62.14, Session.nTargetsOfOpportunity set to 0 when creating New Live Session

• ImageSet for Target P/2023 M4 (ATLAS) incorrectly named as 'Comet_P_2023_M4_ATLAS 3x3 90s C'.  Image Set should be named as "Comet_P2023_M4_ATLAS 3x3 90s C". Similarly FITS images from target are being incorrectly named like "Comet_P_2023_M4_ATLAS....FIT" instead of "Comet_P2023_M4_ATLAS....FIT" . This was due to a bug in "CCD_Session_Summary.xls!X2_Modify_Object_Names()" routine. Bug fixed 2023-12-31.  Names corrected in 01148_Fits Summary.xls and Image Set folder and Fits Files recreated.
