Session Aims & Highlights (2022-03-22)

Main aims

1. Targets.  Acquire images of a selection of variable stars, nearby stars, comets & deep sky targets as allowed by time & conditions.
2. AstroMain.  Operate new AstroMain version 3.50.8 and see that it hasn't introduced any new issues.
3. NGC 2964, 2968. Acquire images of Leo Triplet 2 ( NGC 2964, 2968, 2970), Ast. Now DeepSky Challenge object, Apr 2022

Highlights

•  AstroMain.  New version 3.50.8 operated without any issues
•  NGC 2964, 2968. Images of Leo Triplet 2 ( NGC 2964, 2968, 2970) successfully acquire
•  Targets.  Targets succcessfully acquired but several spoilt due to low sky transparency
•  Poor sky.  Very poor sky transparency due to fog/haze, which affected all images and most particularly those targets with lowest altitude.

• Add additional ARP objects to Targets Database. There are a number of ARP objects that haven't been previously imaged. These should be identified and added to the Targets Database using AstroPlan, along with objects where improved images can probably be taken.  Item is in progress. 24 ARP targets added to database as of 2022-03-30.  In session S995 no less than 13 ARP objects where successfully imaged (see images-2022-03-25.htm).   11 additional ARP targets (all in UMa) added to database on 2022-04-21. Further ARP targets (in Boo and Vir) added to database around 2022-05-04.  Corrections, additions and improvements to ARP Web Page made in early May 2022.  Although there are still further ARP targets that can be added to the Targets Database and acquired, decision taken on close this improvement ticket after review 2022-05-10.
